Mutable : Ceramic and Clay Art since 1947- Exhibition
An ambitious project supported by the Piramal Art foundation and curated and designed by Jackfruit Research and Design, Bangalore; Mutable maps and explores the path of contemporary ceramic art and studio pottery in India. A first of its kind project, it is great to see the modern history of this fast growing art form in India.
In the words of the curators Sindhura DM and Annapurna Garimella :
Mutable will showcase the diverse range of pottery-making in India, with a focus on practices of hereditary and studio-trained potters, artists who use clay as one medium among several in their repertoire, and the work of institutions and organisations who have worked with potters across India. The exhibition will showcase the diverse range of materials, techniques and objects within the realm of ceramics through its five sections – Shift, Utility, Form, Object and Perception.
The show is on at the Piramal Museum of Art, Mumbai till January 2018.
