A New Hobby…
Herb Gardening!!
At my Mumbai apartment.
Thai Basil
Thanks to my pottery student Meaghan who got me some Thai Basil from her own kitchen garden ๐ The fragrance is awesome and this basil plant is already giving a splendid touch to my salads ๐
Italian Basil
Step 1 : Bought some Italian basil from the veggie market
Step 2 : Washed and put into a mug of water for about 10 days
The basil started to sprout roots by the 5th day ๐ ๐
Step 3 : Add some soil to the mug of water so that the super delicate roots can anchor themselves to the soil and adapt themselves to the new environment before potting. Let it be for about a week.
Step 4 : Potted it! with some manure.
Step 5 : Remove the flowers regularly so that all the energy is used by the plant to grow more leaves.
Step 6 : Enjoy home-grown organic Italian Basil! ๐
Update on 12 Feb, 2013
And the Italian Basil has grown so big! Plenty of sunlight, good old cow dung manure (that had been aged) and regular plucking of the flowers ( this helps to save energy and use it to grow more leaves instead!).
(Look at the lovely hand-woven Manipuri basket too!)
