When creating art objects or installations, the challenges aren’t necessarily proportionate to the scale of the art.

 

Art object 24 was one such exciting project that I worked on recently. With several starts and stops due to the pandemic and lockdowns, the project took almost 16 months to complete.

 

I was invited by the design team of the Mahindra museum – Elsie Nanji and Harsh Munrao of Figments Lab to design and create Object 24 as a part of the museum narrative. Object 24 was going to be a visual metaphor to one of the key philosophies in the Mahindra story and museum narrative – the building blocks of a nation.

 

An unusual subject to depict through my art without letting go of the visual essence of the art object, this has definitely been amongst my most challenging and exciting projects.
